About FilterScored
FilterScored scores air purifiers and water filters on the things that actually matter and the things manufacturers hide: verified performance, real third-party certifications, and total cost of ownership. No normal person can evaluate CADR ratings, HEPA classes, NSF certification numbers, or micron specs. We turn those into one auditable score, and we show our math.
What makes us different
- Deterministic scoring. Every point on every scorecard maps to a visible rule and a verifiable input. Two people with the same spec sheet would compute the same score. See the methodology.
- A claim is not a certification. We only credit certifications listed on the official NSF, WQA, IAPMO, AHAM, or CARB databases. "Tested to NSF standards" earns nothing.
- Total cost of ownership. We compute annual filter cost for air units and cost per gallon for water units - the number brands bury.
- We will say a popular product is a bad value. Scores follow the data, not the brand.
How we make money
FilterScored earns affiliate commissions when you buy through some of our links. Those relationships never influence a score. See our affiliate disclosure and editorial standards.
Confidence and corrections
Each scorecard carries a confidence label. Products marked "Partial" have specs and prices sourced from manufacturer and retailer pages pending direct confirmation on the official certification databases. We date every price and review. If you spot an error, email corrections to hello@filterscored.com and we will fix it and note the change.
What we do not do
We do not make medical or disease claims. We score what a certification proves about contaminant reduction and cite the EPA or CDC for why a contaminant matters. We are not a substitute for a water test or medical advice.
