Air purifiers, scored
These are the purifiers we rate highest, best score first. The "filters per year" figure is what the replacement cartridges actually cost you over a year - we work it out from real prices, never a guess - so a cheap unit with pricey filters can't hide from you here.

FAQ
- How are these air purifiers ranked?
- Best score first. Every score is our opinion under the published air rubric, computed from inputs you can check yourself - AHAM-verified CADR, ozone safety, and the real cost of replacement filters. The full score-event breakdown is on each scorecard.
- What does the Filters/yr column mean?
- It is what the replacement cartridges actually cost over a year, worked out from real, dated prices - never a guess. When we cannot find a real price, the column shows n/a: a missing price is a labeled data gap, not an estimate.
- Why do some well-known air purifiers score low here?
- Hard fails cap a score: an ozone generator sold as an air purifier, an uncertified lead or PFAS claim, or a claimed room size the unit's own CADR cannot support. The cap and the reason stay visible in the scorecard breakdown - nothing gets quietly buried.
- Are these scores facts or opinions?
- The scores are our editorial opinion under the FilterScored rubric. The inputs behind them are verifiable facts - certifications checked on the official registries, AHAM-verified CADR, and sourced prices - and you can recompute any score from the visible score-events.
