Best Water Filter Pitcher
The best water filter pitcher is one certified for the contaminant you care about with a reasonable cost per gallon - the Brita Elite leads on certified lead and PFAS plus a long cartridge life.
Pitchers are the cheapest entry point, but certification varies wildly: some are certified only for chlorine taste, others for lead and PFAS. The catch is cost per gallon, since pitcher cartridges are small. We rank on both.
How we score: We rank pitcher-class filters by composite score, which weights certified reduction and the (often high) cost per gallon of small cartridges.

FAQ
- Why do pitcher filters cost so much per gallon?
- Small cartridges treat few gallons before replacement. A pitcher rated for 40 gallons every two months costs far more per gallon than an under-sink filter rated for 500-plus gallons.
